INFLUENCING YOUR COMMUNITY 100 watts of FM power will go a long way to influencing, informing, and entertaing your community.  LPFM stations have the potential to reach large segements of the population both through the FM signal and the online stream.  Stations must always remember the importance of their influence on the community and always use their broadcast to serve their neighbors well.  LPFM stations act as first informers during emergency situations.  They should always be prepared to step-up and provide their community the most relevant, up-to-date information possible.  In times of peace, stations should consider the ways their broadcast can help improve the mental and physical health of their listeners.  This might mean warning the community about a dangerous situation; it might mean playing the perfect song on a sunny day.  Whatever the situation, community radio station should be flexible in their programming and responsive to the ever-changing neeeds of the community. Reading public service annoucements is a way that many community stations serve their local listeners.
